- 독립 도메인 서비스 간략 비교, MSOL vs. GAfYD
저는, 제 이름을 도메인으로 등록하고 있어서, 독립 도메인을 이용한 서비스에 많은 관심을 가지고 있었습니다. 작년부터 제 도메인을 엮어서 사용해 볼 수 있는 서비스를 찾던 중 두 서비스에 주목하게 되었습니다.
제가 사용해 본 독립 도메인 연동 서비스는 Microsoft Office Live (이하 MSOL)와, Google Apps for Your Domain (이하 GAfYD)입니다. 두 서비스 모두 유료 서비스를 제공하고 있지만, 저는 무료 서비스에만 촛점을 맞추어 간략한 비교 사용기를 작성해 보았습니다.

- 신용 카드 한 장으로 한 개의 도메인을 등록할 수 있습니다. 과금하지 않으면서 신용 카드 정보를 요구하는 것은 도메인 사재기를 막기 위한 장치인 것 같습니다.

3. GAfYD: 1000개 추가 요청 시에는 즉각 반영되어 1100개로 계정 한도가 올라 갔고, 2000개로 증설 요청 시에는 즉각 처리되지는 않았지만, 2000개로 계정 한도가 늘어났습니다.

4. MSOL: 초기에는 한 글자 짜리 메일 주소도 생성 가능했었는데, 지금의 메일 계정은 2자-50자 사이의 문자를 이용해서 만들어야 합니다.

MSOL의 경우, sub-domain 설정이 불가능해서, 확장성은 많이 떨어지는 것 같습니다. 하지만,
GAfYD의 경우, 도메인 구입 비용을 사용자가 부담해야 하지만, 네임 서버를 변경할 수 있기 때문에, 내 입맛에 맞는 sub-domain 설정이 가능했습니다. 풍부한 확장성을 바탕으로 독립 도메인을 지원하는 다른 서비스 (예를 들면 Tistory (http://www.tistory.com) 와 연동하여 blog.chunghyewon.com, www.chunghyewon.com, friends.chunghyewon.com, family.chunghyewon.com, forum.chunghyewon.com, office.chunghyewon.com 등의 웹싸이트를 만들 수 있고, 당장 사용할 수 있는 웹 오피스 환경을 구성하기 쉽다고 생각합니다.
